My last world coin purchase of 2022. From the 1578 Siege of Deventer. Here’s a copy and paste of a translation of the seller’s listing: Copper emergency coin struck on October 30, 1578 in Deventer during the siege by the Count of Rennenberg that took place from August 3 to November 19. The pieces were taken back after the siege and stamped to them to be declared invalid. The inscription on the obverse reads: "Because of dire necessity, October 30, 1578"
I bought a few bullion coins with animals on them. This is the first to arrive. 2022 Gibraltar 1 pound with war elephant.
