No where near an MS65...,, However, same design struck on a much larger planchet. 0.835 fine with 0.3221 net ounces of silver. I would say attractive for the AU58 grade and a terrific bullion-like coin with nearly zero premium above melt:thumb:. Some coins I have to like because they are a great deal on top of having a nice design!

SA Union album Looking at the British Africa coin, I finished my British South Africa album SA Union from 0.25 penny to Crown with some patterns attached
Me thinks Krause needs to update the valuations on this series if they haven't already. My 2011 catalog says $3.00 in UNC with no listing for BU. Your coin looks like an MS67 from the image. I suppose it's worth whatever someone will pay for it, but somehow a superb gem UNC that is full red and 104 years old ought to command a little more than three bucks. Like maybe $18 minimum.
NGC MS 63 BN Terminal Die State. Notice toward the knees there are die cracks tracing all over from there. I don't spend much time looking up D&H numbers and rarity on these, I just like them because they are old, BIG, copper, expertly crafted, and when they have interesting aspects that make them different I try to buy them. This one went for around 200 on Teletrade a few months back. Matt
Nothing special, Kaiserreich 1 Mark 1904 D That's still an attractive coin, certainly better grade than my 1961 Franc.
There were a lot of billion coins in circulation in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. I think most of the silver that went into them originated in the Spanish colonies, and was recoined by various local governments that took a bit of seignorage in the process.
