Have mostly been trying to sell off a bunch of my collection, but couldn't pass up this gorgeous set this week. From the 1999 International Horticultural Exposition in Kunming, China: The first coin (KM 1252 - China 1999 10 Yuan) shows gold-plated Chinese Roses on the obverse and the Wan Chun Pavilion on the reverse. It contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver and has a mintage of 100,000 pieces. The second coin (KM 1253 - China 1999 10 Yuan) shows multicolor Camelias on the obverse and the Da Guan Tower on the reverse. It also contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver with a mintage of 100,000 pieces. I think these will look quite nice next to my toned Botanic Commemorate Dollar that NGC deemed "artificial toning" (I took it straight from the Botanic Set and sent it in, so it's a mistake on their part.)
Love those Chinese roses. There aren't many colorized coins I'd include in my collection, but it so happens the one time I have done that, it was a Chinese coin, with gilt enamel peaches. Peaches and... bats! A strange but appealing combination, I thought.
Well I've got Katanga (1960-1963, then reincorporated back into Congo) Francs, and a lot of other stuff, so now I'm working on Biafra (1967-1970, reincorporated into Nigeria after civil war). I have a fascination with the coins (and history) of nations that no longer exist. Sadly, despite the "Peace - Unity - Freedom" motto on this coin, the country didn't experience much of any of those. I picked this 1969 aluminum 1 shilling NGC MS62 up tonight when my Best Offer was accepted (sellers pics):
This is one I’d been wanting but thought they were a little expensive. Found a nice one at a lower price because of the ICG plastic. Some nice die cracks too.
I don’t think I posted this proclamation medal I got a few weeks ago at the Annandale coin show. 1853 La Paz 2 Sols, holed as most of them were and made for the mint, Casa de Moneda and has a cornucopia of coins. Same size and weight as standard coinage.
Not new... just forgotten pop 69/ UC 24 >>>> 4 higher 70/UC 2010 Kangeroo at sun set F-15 privy. plane and simple
Some new items from last weeks WFOM Madeira British Virgin Island. 2 oz w/ very high relief. I fell in love immediately. Italian 1636 Jeton. This one might go off with my next NGC submission. It's the best piece I purchased all week. Much better than my picture shows. German Medal dated 1535 for Ludwig X The last 2 pieces instantly are among my favorite pieces. They are both very scarce with few auction records to compare to.
