Yes, I know what you mean. The coin is actually really pretty nice for a 61, which often suffer from a number of hits, diminishing the overall eye appeal. That really isn't the case here.
There are some small nicks on her head and veil that might preclude a really high grade, but I'd expect this coin to grade at least 63 or 64.
Sold a Dos Peso got $35 and this . Dealer said he had some nicer ones in the past but it’s a wonderful example
Is that Florian? Looks like it says FLORIANVS on it. If so, that's pretty darn cool. Florian, as you may know, was a pretty short-lived Roman emperor, who ruled for only 80-88 days - less than three months- before he got whacked. His coins aren't as rare as that would lead one to believe, but they're still kinda scarce.
Honestly, I don't know. I bought it and it was pretty rough and encrusted. Let me look back in my posts and see if I asked that question to the ancients forum.
If it’s a Florian, that’s a nice cherrypick, even though it’s still not going to be a high-dollar coin monetarily, in that condition. It’ll just have the coolness factor of being from one of those really short reigning emperors. Get the Ancients people to confirm the identity.
