RSFSR coins are 1921-1923, USSR is 1923-1991. You have a very early USSR poltinnik. The equivalent RSFSR coin would be an AR 50 Kopecks (1921-1922) Y#83. The emblem is a bit different; it will have the hammer and sickle surrounded by wheat and no ribbon. If you look at your poltinnik - each fold of the ribbon going across the wheat sheafs represents a country in the USSR. As the Soviet Union grew with more member states/satellites, the emblem changed to introduce more folds. The key takeaway here is if you see the ribbon it is not RSFSR.

    RSFSR:

Not a chance I would have recognized that on my own, but you're right, for-sure an elephant. Interesting story, the Sunga Kingdom, especially it's near spontaneous disintegration around 75 BC.

The reverse of this Brazil 10 Reid 1822 is pretty nice. Too bad someone cleaned a part of the obverse and there is an old scratch and verdigris on the obverse. DSCN3069~2.JPG DSCN3068~2.JPG
