Hehe. Finland €2 commem (2006) commemorating 100 years of universal and equal suffrage. Finland was the first country, I think, where women had both "active" and "passive" voting rights. That is, they could vote and also be elected. (The image is from the European Commission's website, but I have that piece.) Christian
Don't think that the US makes any non-US coins these days; question of capacity maybe. The Afghanistan pieces dated 2004 were made in Pessac (by the Monnaie de Paris). Don't know about their paper money ... Christian
Chris isn't it due to heavy competition from Foreign mints like (RCM, PM) which appear to be far competitive and aggressive in getting foreign orders?
Don't know why, but I just checked which mint made those, and the 1 afghani coin depicted was indeed minted in Pessac. See here: http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/fr...ational-heritage/article/the-monnaie-de-paris This is a text, published in 2006, which says that the French mint "signed a contract in 2004 for the production of 600 million coins for the Afghan Republic." Also, this article from early 2010 http://www.aquieco.com/fr/actualites_economiques/revue_de_presse/article.php?itm=3862 says that the mint will make another 100 million 5 afghani pieces. Christian
Another British Denomination you probably have never heard of A 1843 Three Halfpence (1 1/2d), this is a tiny coin, 12.5mm in diameter. Owen
I have wanted an example of one of these 2004 $1 Somalia coins for a while. Instead, I just purchased a whole set of the 6 designs. While they are very easy to photograph, they are a nightmare to crop....so you only get to see one for now
