That is a Buddhist amulet, talisman or temple token, I think probably cast of copper. The bust on the obverse is Luang Paw Koon, a very famous and high ranking monk who died a few years ago. I think he founded Wat Ban Rai at Dan Khun Thot, in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. He lived a long life of poverty and dedication to the helping of others. He is often depicted smoking a big, hand rolled cigar. On the reverse can be seen a date of BE2538 (๒๕๓๘)= 1995 AD at about the 5 o'clock position. I saw him once at a distance, never came close or spoke with him. He was quite old then and probably not doing much public appearance.
That's really cool that you at least have a memory/personal connection like that to the coin. Very interesting, I've never heard of him.
I picked up this beauty today. Sure looks UNC. While these are common UNC ones tend to be harder to find especially being well struck as minting standards as well as planchet material was far from ideal. 1900-06 Kwang Tung (Guangdong) 10 Cash.
I work for a railroad and thought this was interesting. unless im wrong and this means something else. the 1st 3 words end in "T" and not an "L". that changes the meaning altogether
