1961 Ireland Half Crown 'Mule' | PCGS MS-65

Been looking for a decent one of these for a while. This one is new to the market and I recently acquired it from Civitas. Fairly common in circulated grades, but nearly impossible to find in mint state. This is the only mint state example graded by PCGS. NGC has 10 listed in its census, with a lone MS-64 being the highest. I've seen all of the mint state examples and this one is the nicest, in my opinion. A weak strike on the harp strings is typical (if not the rule) for this type. PCGS TrueView image is a good representation of the coin in hand.

I really like small (and large) silver foreign coins. Just got this one around New Years,. Does anyone know why it says 1924 on one side and 1934 on the other?

I believe it was the 10th anniversary of them using the quetzal as a monetary unit.

Krause says this is common but it just doesn't look like anything else from Czechoslovakia from this time. It's a one-year type, 25 haleru. 1933 czech 25 haleru.jpg

A new acquisition for my classic Hungarian set:

Hungary 1851B 3 Kreuzer (Austrian Occupation type)
    s-l1600 (4).jpg

This was a one-year large copper type for Hungary, and a decent example had eluded me for years. Very pleased to finally fill this hole. This is my first acquisition of 2020.
