Here is a bear that just came recently, 1920 Aachen 25 pfennig, iron. A replacement for an identical coin I traded off last year. This bear greatly resembles my fat old dog Turbo.
I've had this coin but never shared it. I decided to take better photos and do a bit more research and realized I had misattributed it. The coin is a 1/2 Duit issued in 1695 AD by the Dutch India. I had it as a 1 Cash from the Pondicherry mint but it was actually minted in Negapatnam.
I agree with your attribution. I have 2 of these coins, reference Scholten # 1246 and shown as RRR, meaning "extremely rare". See zeno.ru #234828 and #234829.
Might as well post some new arrivals. 1783 Galle VOC 1 stuiver dump, 1720 West Frisiae duit, 1752 Utrecht VOC 1/2 duit
Just got this one. The information I have is a bit sparse so I have some research to do. Silver Medal ND (1720's) The Baptism of Christ Diameter: 33mm Weight: 8.9g.
AE Fals from Qarakhanid - 3.27g Nasir bin Ali as Tungha Tegin with his brother Ahmad bin Ali as Khan 993-1012 AD - Ferghana Mint Ref.: Album#3303, Zeno#17411
I have to admit this find yesterday really tickled my fancy for South American coinage. I have loved this reverse since the first time I saw it.....going to give her a bath and see how she looks.....
Here is an Indian Princely Bundi AR rupee minted during the reign of Edward VII, 20th century struck coin minted in 1909.
Here are some new pickups for my modern Hungarian patterns set, a trio of 1983 F.A.O. commemorative patterns: This first coin has the distinction of being the only commemorative minor coin (fillér) produced by Hungary. Hungary 20 Fillér F.A.O. Commemorative (rightmost coin) Pattern of KM-627 (Próbaveret on reverse) Aluminum Hungary 5 Forint F.A.O. Commemorative (middle coin) Pattern of KM-628 (Próbaveret on obverse) Nickel Hungary 10 Forint F.A.O. Commemorative (leftmost coin) Pattern of KM-629 (Próbaveret on obverse) Nickel
Killer collection! I love the FAO series and it's on my dream list to put together a full collection of them.
Thanks. I don't have particular interest in F.A.O. coins at large, however, this brings me up to 7 Hungarian F.A.O. patterns, just because they are of interest as significant patterns. This 3 piece set has the only minor commem and so is of interest, the 4 piece set from 1995 were intended to be the first circulating ultramodern commems but were not produced (I'm missing one of the four), and the 1981 10 forint pattern was a circulating commem and so is obligatory in my patterns set. My circulating business strikes set also does have the one circulating 1981 10 forint F.A.O. issue.
Nice, the 1849NB Hungarian War of Independence Krajczar is a pretty scarce coin (and is always found weakly struck on poor quality planchets from what I've seen).
