My plan to dominate the world of bear numismatics comes one step closer to fruition with this Greenland 10 ore.
Some of my latest back. A key date Aussie half sovereign. Everyone who says the small guy can't get a 70 are wrong! Only the third proof 2 cent in 70. The German 3 mark I picked out of a silver junk bin.
Well then, if you haven't already got one you'll be needing a Walsall (my home town) penny, Bear and Ragged Staff.
German States - Hannover 1818 3 Mariengroschen Common coin in an uncommon condition. I don't believe I have ever seen one struck this nicely.
I do have one and I was quite happy to find it. Yours is in nicer condition than mine though. If you're curious, here's a website showing all my bear coins. https://coinswithbears.wordpress.com/portfolio/bear-coins/
Yeah, gotta have something to focus on. I was thinking of going after elephants too but there's way too much bullion and silver commemoratives from Africa. I'd need to set some kind of parameters.
My oldest coin with an animal is this AV 1/12 Stater ND Lydia Sardes Mint/King Kroisos circa 550 BC Lion/ Bull
Good work! You're right - mine is in better condition. But mine's a Withers 1147 (C - common), whilst yours appears to be Withers 1148 (RR - very rare). Make of that what you will. There's a halfpenny too, if such completionism is important to you (I'm guessing you know this already). I don't have one. Yet.
He had it listed just over melt. I pointed it out to him. But he felt like the color was AT. Which it really wasn't. I'm really happy with that one.
I didn't know there was a halfpenny. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. What's the difference between the two penny types?
There are 7 varieties listed in Withers. I've scanned the relevant pages which I can forward to you if you PM me an email address?
