This one is in the mail from the Netherlands. Large silver medal. Excited to see it in hand.

 

so cool. that coin took my breath away and I know nothing about it. 1623 early date. very detailed portrait too.

 

Came yesterday, labeled as 1422-1436 Bahmanis of Deccan, Ahmad Shah I, 1 gani. Hefty AE coin, 16.1 grams/21mm D, ~5mm thick.

At the coin shop this week I picked up a 2-coin set of Canadian bird coins because I like puffins. Of course I think I mostly like puffins because of the Lundy puffin coins.

 

Here are some more new ones I got.

Here's one for the "it pays to look it up" file. I was about to list this 1943 J German 10 pfennig that I just got in a junk bin for sale on eBay with a buy it now of $1.40, but I thought I'd better look it up to make sure it's not a key date. Sure enough, my (rather old) Krause gives values of $25F/$45VF/$85XF. Those numbers are probably optimistic but I'd definitely have given it away to someone if I hadn't checked.

From Armen Moloian Rare coins in California, two consecutive Doges, both who spent most of their reign fighting the Ottoman Empire. Nice crisp strikes from fresh dies with nearly proof-like fields and great centering. They don't come much nicer than this!

 

This came today, an upgrade for my George V set.

 

Here are some more coins I picked up during a recent trip to my local coin shop. I finally got a cartwheel 2 pence.

These were my first eBay purchases in quite awhile. I wanted something from the Cayenne colony, and the others are for my animals and bears collections .

 

This is a coin I purchased as a Christmas gift for my son. He likes the unusual Silver coins. I think he is really going to like this one. I ordered it 2 weeks ago and it arrived today. The price has already gone up $40 over what I paid. Much higher on ebay. 2 ounces of Silver. Antique finish, and a LOW, LOW mintage of 888 !!!
