The Gallic Empire. Emperor Marcus Cassianius Latinius Postumus (260-269). Silver antoninianus, 262 A.C.
A new pickup for my Austro-Hungarian prooflike set: Hungary 1905KB 20 Korona NGC MS61 PL KM-486 (1892-1915) AU .900 6.775g 21mm A nice companion piece for my MS62 PL 10 Korona, which was previously my only gold coin in this set with a PL designation. NGC is very tight on giving the PL designation to gold coins, so I was very pleased to find this example, especially as this is my favorite Franz Joseph gold type.
Won this bad boy from CNG today. I bet it's nice in hand! https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=370975
A couple old looking coins came from India yesterday. First one is Kutch State, 1 kori. Next one Bengal Presidency 1 rupee
Finally got me a couple of these "punch mark" coins of the Mauryan Empire, 1 karshapana, supposedly King Ashoka 272-232 BC. I understand these are hard to identify closely. Do they count as "Ancient"?
My newest: Ecu à 6 livres, Louis XVI, "Roi des Francois" 1792. The following year there wasn't a Roi anymore.
I got these 4 coins from a friend who recently found them in his military pants when cleaning out his basement. He was stationed in Vietnam. 2 are Vietnamese and the other two from Taiwan.
Picked these up from a LCS today - they're not perfect, but they're perfect for what I paid, which was 50 cents total: Germany (Prussia) - 1855 A 3 Pfennig Germany (Prussia) - 1855 A 1 Groschen
Lovely dragon yen. I had a nice one some years ago, but yours is even nicer. Surprisingly non-ancient for a CNG auction listing!
They had some cool non ancient items in that auction. I was under bidder on about 4 other cool things. Happy with my 1 win though. First CNG win!
Another pickup for my ambitious FJI Austro-Hungarian Florin/Forint full set (1857-1892). Austria 1889 AR Florin NGC MS64 KM-2222 (1872-1892)
Got this load today. Nice mix. About 240 Japanese 1 and 4 mon Kanei Tsuho and Bunkyu Eiho, and about 60 Chinese (mostly Qing and Northern Sung), two Korean and two Tenpo Tsuho. The token is a Japanese tourist medal from 1980.
My first coin bought from China. It's from the Shanghai Mint and was graded in China by PCGS. It's a 2 ounce piece in a thick PCGS holder. Came with the OGP, COA and a very nice zippered pouch. Took less than 3 weeks to get here which seemed pretty quick to me.
That pavilion on the lake looks rather familiar. I think I sat there eating river snails with 2 nice sisters a few years ago. In 2002 it was, in Shang Hai.
