K=Bordeaux mint. from my 2004 Krause world coin catalog....KM#776.5 grade/value F-$6.00 VF-$12.00 XF-$25.00 UNC-$60.00
A rare example of Krause undervaluing a coin. Here's the French price guide: Worth noting that French grading standards are about on par with ours, from examples I've seen. Prices are for VG / VF / XF / AU / UNC.
Received this one in the post today - fills another gap in my Halfcrowns date run - just need 1706 to complete the Queen Anne set.
My newest Wildman. In a PCGS holder (for now). Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1615 Thaler Obverse: Coat of Arms with D.G. in titles Reverse: Wildman with a tree in right hand Note: Dav.#6303. Composition: Silver
Busy sorting through a large box of World coins (by which I mean non-British - there are some US coins in here!). I was pleased to come across this one:
Siak keping token One seller that I buy from often throws"gift coins" in on my purchases. He always labels them. In my last purchase he threw the coin below without any id. Not a clue as to what it might be or if it is even a coin. It almost appears to be a head typical of some of the Byzantine coins I have seen in the top photo. Anyone have any idea what this might be?
Yes, it's an ancient. Not bad for a freebie. ID is below. Sinope, Paphlagonia. Mithradates VI, circa 85-65 BC, O: Aegis R: Nike
