A rare example of Krause undervaluing a coin. Here's the French price guide:

Worth noting that French grading standards are about on par with ours, from examples I've seen. Prices are for VG / VF / XF / AU / UNC.

Received this one in the post today - fills another gap in my Halfcrowns date run - just need 1706 to complete the Queen Anne set.

Been scooping up French Classic coins. I think they are so undervalued right now.

Busy sorting through a large box of World coins (by which I mean non-British - there are some US coins in here!). I was pleased to come across this one:

One seller that I buy from often throws"gift coins" in on my purchases. He always labels them. In my last purchase he threw the coin below without any id. Not a clue as to what it might be or if it is even a coin. It almost appears to be a head typical of some of the Byzantine coins I have seen in the top photo. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Yes, it's an ancient. Not bad for a freebie.

    ID is below.

Sinope, Paphlagonia. Mithradates VI, circa 85-65 BC,
    O: Aegis
    R: Nike

The next falls into the "I'm not sure why this one spoke to me" category. Maybe it is the odd denomination, even for a German States issue.

    German States MAINZ 1/4 Kreutzer

    Obverse: Bust right
Reverse: Value and date within beaded circle

    Ruler: Friedrich Karl Josef

    Composition: Copper
