I did it again.....bought some stuff I really don't collect or know much about but with the Chinese getting richer by the second and keen on buying back their heritage, I thought they can only appreciate in a few years.... This one was too tempting to pass NEPAL Shah Dynasty. Tribhuvana Bir Bikram gold Mohar VS 1983 (1926) MS65 NGC
And this fits in nicely with the 1935 Waitangi Crown I acquired sometime back New Zealand George V Proof Waitangi 1/2 Crown 1935 PR65 NGC
I have the business strike of that New Zealand 1/2 crown. Sadly, in a much lower grade. But even in VF, it's still a lovely coin.
You're both right....it is a lovely design with a lot of detail.....can't wait to have it delivered now
Uh, can someone please explain what these coins are? Not many people on this planet can read that script.
Square Rupee of Akbar I Jalal al-Din Muhammad Akbar (963-1014 AH / 1556 - 1605 A.D.) AR Rupee INDIA, Mughal Empire 10.96g
Probably more of an "ancient", but I usually don't wander into that room. The seller had this identified completely wrong but the bull and horseman made it easy to identify. I think it is a jital of the Shahi Kings with the inscription Sri Samanta Deva from about 850-1000 A.D. (I found that info on Doug Smith's website) https://www.forumancientcoins.com/dougsmith/bh.html
Got this back from NGC this morning. It came back PF69 Ultra Cameo. Wish it graded a 70 but 69 is "almost" there and I am happy with that. I'll enjoy a nice profit if and when I ever decide to sell.
