These three bears came yesterday. The first completes a set I had thought was already complete. The other three coins in this series were from 2015 and were a lot cheaper as I recall. Not sure what happened to make this one so hard to get. I also got the 2018 Canada 2 dollars and a souvenir dollar from Jasper, Canada.

Been doing some buying this weekend: 1905 Half Crown - for anyone who collects British Silver this is the key date. 1905 Farthing - not supposed to be that scarce but rarely turns up in a good grade. Both these are upgrades for my own collection.
Do any of you know something about the history of Canadian ship "New Brunswick", 1854, which has appeared on Pennies ? Both history of the Coins, and of the ship itself ?
Indeed. It has a nice even brown patina. the picture really super-sizes it as the coin is not much bigger than a dime.
I've been expanding my bear collection lately. Here are two from Canada. The 2004 $8 coin came in a wooden case and also includes two of the $8 stamps with the same image. It's really nice. I also got the Aachen 25 pfennig notgeld coin in a trade with member Coin_nut on here. It's an upgrade over one that I already had, which for a long time I thought was a dog instead of a bear.
No, Hiddendragon, I'm not sure what the New Brunswick coins mean or don't mean. You could be right about clues for trade etc. The only military clue I can see is the year, 1854, of the Crimean War, which the U.S. was, indirectly, involved with, and perhaps Canada too ?
I'm pretty sure that it's not a ship name. It's just for the province of New Brunswick, which is on the Atlantic Coast. These tokens were issued by some of the provinces before Canada had official coinage. There are other coins from 1843 too, so I don't think it has a military link. It just represents commercial shipping.
Not sure if this is the coin you are referring to, but as @Hiddendragon noted there were coins issued in the Canadian province of New Brunswick in 1843 & 1854 with a three masted ship. New Brunswick economy in that time period was largely based on shipbuilding and wood export.
Lebanon 1933, 5 piastres, KM#5.2, metal- aluminum-bronze, mintage-500,000, I paid $100.00 I think it is MS and worth a lot more. You never see them this nice. I pounced on it. lol. Definitely an upgrade. Mainly bought it for the bees for the "Coins with Insects" collection. Any Lebanon coin collector will tell you the grade on this 1 is amazing. The detail on the bees is the best I have seen to date. Sellers pics...
Hi Muzyck, As I understand it, New Brunswick, being in Canada, was then part of the British Empire. So your info makes sense. I am making further enquiries elsewhere, and will share any results I receive with all at Coin Talk.
