This came a day or two ago, my first "pod duang". I have not yet verified the approximate date or identification. Seller said it is made of bronze and dates from 1824-1851. If anyone can recognize it or offer any further info, please do.
@coin_nut when I hear pod duang I instantly think thai. I collect thai coins and hear of these, as for date, etc I don't collect these so i didn't delve in this group of coins
went to a local show today. only 4 dealers with foreign and only 1 that wasn't completely out of his mind. some prices were absolutely ridiculous. happy to bring this home.
Here is one more, rather odd denomination of 1 mace and 4.4 candareens. Silver .820 minted 1890-1908,
Couldn’t pass this up for $5.00 at the swap meet. Some coins I’ve not seen before, and even a few pieces of silver.
I visited my local coin shop today and picked up a lot of stuff. I have to say I was partially inspired by the Olympics with the first two. I saw so many silver Olympics coins, but if I got them all I couldn't have afforded anything else.
I also got this for my bears collection. I think it's one of those tokens that comes with a mint set. Don't know what you call them.
Arrived today - not the greatest example ever shown but it fills another gap for me. 1687 Half Crown, James II of England.
This little 2 stuiver appeared yesterday, as if by magic. A replacement for a much more worn example. I am curious about the marks around the middle area of the reverse - PMD, die cracks, love token type mutilation, what?
