Yeah. I used to accumulate US junk silver as part of my collection, but then I got into world junk silver a couple years ago and it is much more fun. Plus, one can often get such coins cheap.
That's a nice stash of silver. Wish I could go to coin shops and shows like you guys in the states do, and cherry pick nice little odds and ends. I recognize most of those world silver coins, because I have identical or very similar examples here in my pile. Oh, might as well post another new coin...came 2 days ago. Not cheap, due to its relative rarity and the current popularity of Edward VII. Now if I could just find an '05 half crown at a good price...
You mean like this one? I picked it up about 12 years ago - I can't remember how much I paid but it wont be much over £100.
Added a few to my collection today Will post them collectively and then individually Austria 4 Ducats Re-strikes PR67 DCAM Got 2 of them Australia 2013 Perth Mint $25 PF70DCAM
Got a couple more US minted coins from Panama today. Again not the greatest condition, but I will eventually upgrade.
Received this one today. I have always loved this design. Surprised it has been demonetized. Country France Type Common coin Years 1974-1980 Value 50 Francs (50 FRF) Metal Silver (.9000) Weight 30 g Diameter 41 mm Thickness 2.70 mm Shape Round Orientation Coin alignment ↑↓ Demonetized 04-30-1980 References KM# 941, F# 427, Gad# 882, Schön# 237
I bet that 50 franc was demonetized when they went to the euro. I do like the way US money stays spendable. Sure, some current youngster might balk at accepting a silver dollar or large cent, but if they are able to read they might realize it is money.
