My newps are far and few between (relatively speaking), and I'm only now imaging them. Got this one from Atlas a few weeks ago--Japan silver 1 Bu: PCGS calls it AU-58, but really who cares. The color is neat...so many are either blast white or dingy white. This one dates to the Tenpo era, the first in this style. It's JNDA 09-50, so between 1837-1854 for minting.
These are tiny compared to yours. The Timor is about the size of a US nickel. This one is the size of a dime.
St. George! I think that is the saint @midas1 suggested I take a look at because I want to identify a couple of soldier saints on my little prayer cards. But I thought he was a Roman soldier who became a saint. I'll look up that saint before I hit the sack. Love tokens, huh? I dunno. Dontcha' kinda think i'm sappy enough?
Would have used a "double like" or "doubled like" button on these coins if such an option were available to us!
Some one here was starting a set on Us minted coins for other country's , I think it was @MontCollector These coins were minted at the Denver mint during the war. Ngc claims that there is a near and far to rim, variety. It does not have photos, for reference.
Nice coin! Yes is was me and this coin is definitely on my want list. Will have to see if I can find photos of the "near" and "far" rim varieties.
Here is a list from PCGS of US minted world coins. There are over 1000 of them. https://www.pcgs.com/SetRegistry/mu...tured-by-mints-united-states/composition/4824
I have been anxiously awaiting this one. its little weird how the letters " KON" are so light. is this a minting error? there also appears to be a die crack under the right foot
I haven't been on in a while and have gotten tons of new stuff lately. here are a few. Bulgaria 20 Leva in silver. a 1992 maple leaf, got for less than melt value.
The silver 1936 50 Santeem is a shame it has the black spot on it, i have no idea what it is. The coin from India I haven't identified positively yet.
The Indochina piastre i have been wanting for a long time, and happened to find a great deal on it. The coin from North Korea is part of a large series with different aimals. It's my second one, and made of aluminum.
The little Polish coin was thrown in for free, I think it is interesting. A swaziland mint set, I think. It doesnt look like proof coins even though it is supposed to be. And a Lesotho proof set, much better looking coins, Independence set i believe. These are both in original sleeves from royal mint.
The silver 1/2franc and franc I bought out of a cash register for 10 cents and 25 cents, espectively. I had also found a 1932 canadian 25 cents in the same register two days before, so worn the date was barely there.
