Had a chance to upgrade this for this, at a cost of $2 This is the Philippines 1966 25 Centavos KM# 189.2 Mintage 40,000,000 While I am here, I might as well explain the difference between the KM# 189.1 and the 189.2 Here is a KM# 189.1 There are 4 things to look for: 189.1 has a round nose vs. the 189.2 with a pointed nose 189.1, the VE in FIVE is connected vs. separated 189.1 the anvil is funnel shaped vs. round 189.1 has 8 smoke rings vs. 6 on the 189.2 photo below shows the 189.1 on the left and the 189.2 on the right now you know how to tell the difference.
Already owned the Liberia 1c, so I picked up the 2c to go with it. I always liked the designed of these.
Here are the 'junk' world silver coins I got at a show this past weekend: I will try to get photos of the rest of the world coins I got as well.
And here are the 'nicer' world coins purchased at the same time as the above: 1916 Cuba Peso 1929 Latvia 5 Lati 1934 Panama Balboa 1964 Japan 100 Yen 1964 Greece 30 Drachma
Here's two I really like. First is an 1811 1 penny token from Great Britain. Next up is a 2000 Canada 2 dollars made of silver with the center being gold plated.
Nice group of coins, Flute & Dragon. Continuing with my British type set, a florin I needed of George V.
Moderns aren't too bad at all. 2016 Tanzania 1000 Shillings Antiqued High Relief - PCGS MS-70. Mintage: 999. The texture is incredible... But the biggest surprise of all were the polished tusks that are in contrast to the antiqued finish.
Some additions to mu Russian coins collection Altyn (3 kopek) 1704, tiny silver coin 2 kopek 1811 EM-HM. Common as dirt but hard to find in decent condition. Most coins are either very worn or detector finds.
Not sure if this is right thread for this. Picked this up for $25 earlier this week. I am not a bullion or color coin collector, but had to pick this up. Love the hologram 2006 CN Tower Commemorative $20 1oz silver coin
Today I visited the Nacional Numismatic Museum here in Mexico City. I didn't spend too much time at each exhibit as I was a bit tired, but I hope to go back before I leave. One really cool thing that I did see was a 1908 caballito 50 centavo piece, whose design ended up on the peso. I visited the gift shop and got these: This is a medal commemorating Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, with one of their paintings on each face This is a coin commemorating the caballito peso Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I posted this elsewhere recently, but it also fits here. A 1 Yen Meiji Dragon with an incorrect slab - "M25 (1892)" should say "M29 (1896)." Oh well, stuff happens. The dragon was ready for a close-up... This is definitely one of my favorite world type coins of all time...
Here is a set of silver 1991 Italian coins. 200 and 500 lire. I was actually looking at it for the wolf on the 200, and then I noticed the bear on the other side, which some of you may know is kind of my thing right now. And the 500 lire also has a bear, so bonus. @spirityoda the 200 lire has a butterfly on it. Wanted to let you know if you don't have one.
Added 11(well circulated) old world(all over 100 yrs) coins to the wife's collection today. Won them in a contest. Not the quality of the ones on this thread, but will take pictures over next couple days.
these are awesome, but that bottom 1 is off the charts cool colors for sure. wow nice score. it so refreshing to see you post gorgeous toned coins again. ahhhh
