Today was a good mail day, with four coins arriving. 1993 Nepal 500 rupees, 1994 Russia 1 ruble, 2009 and 2010 Congo 10 francs. Of course I bought them for the subject matter.
Found this one at the bottom of a stack of mercury dimes. Go figure. Never a dull moment going through my Dad's stuff. Did I ever mention to you guys that he was a hoarder? Yes, super-fun times. You have to just laugh....because the alternative just stinks.
The first coin that I got today is a very nice AU 1921 2 pesos from Mexico, which has very nice toning but a lot of luster, especially on the reverse: The second is an 1884 20 centavos from Bolivia, which I got because I liked the design on the obverse: I'm not home yet, so I apologize for the mediocre pictures! Just had to get at least one Pegasus for my modern coin (bullion) collection. A new venture for me is to collect a sample from all the major mints around the world. Only bullion I know, but I thought it would be nice to have gorgeous coins at near spot prices. After unloading most of my old collection that I was bored with, I decided to do something a little different. Is this collecting, or stacking ? Either way, that is my new interest. Wow there are plenty out there, and new ones coming out weekly it seems. (Sellers pic.)
Was first bidder on this one, [$.01¢] Hammer price.......$.01¢ ¥ Sellers pics. Have a few of this type of tribute as a sub-set. Don't know why I keep adding more. Just a couple bucks so no big deal.
Porcelain ? Have never seen one in hand. I would imagine are fragile. They are different, and different "CAN" be awesome.
