Hehe, I went to Teotihuacán a few years ago and climbed up there too. It was OK, and I felt fairly safe. Now on a windy day I might not do that, but we were there right at the beginning of spring ... not knowing how crowded it would be on that special day. Christian
just now bought this beauty off Ebay...2001 Slovakia 500 Korun denomination, Beetle Cross silver Proof. I have been hunting for this coin only 14 years. yes! I had to use a credit card. $170.00 worth every dollar. I already have the uncirculated version of this coin. It was the coin that sparked my interest into collecting "coins with insects". The proof version mintage is only 1,800 !!! probably why I never saw it on Ebay until now. doing my little happy coin dance right now. I pounced on this coin like a tiger going for raw meat when very hungry. lol I was not gonna let another 14 years go by searching for it. This coin was not listed in my 2016 Krause catalog, but it is listed and pictured in my 2014 Krause catalog...KM#56 .925 silver... valued at $250.00. I think I got a great deal. I might even get it slabbed by PCGS. sellers pics...
Super! I know the felling when you finally get that special coin. I've experienced it before. Nice coin.
Went to the TSNS show in Chattanooga over the weekend. I would guess there were around 100 dealers or so. There were 6 dealers specializing in foreign and ancient coins and several dealers had some foreign. I purchased 8 coins at the show, 6 for my British copper type set that I will post in the next couple of days and this one for my world copper collection. I saw this token on Ebay last year and have been looking for a nice one at the right price since.
Another coin that jumped out at me was this Spanish Crown of Alfonso XIII. I used to have a Philippine crown of his depicting him in his teen years. This crown depicts him as a toddler. He became King of Spain upon his birth as his father Alfonso XII had died before his birth. The price was well below catalog so I couldn't pass it up.
Yes I saw that when I looked it up. Not sure what the MP-M stands for, Krause says the six pointed star on the obverse is the mint mark (Madrid), lettered mint marks where used prior to 1850's. The MP doesn't match up with any of the Mint officials listed either.
yes I can see how that can be confusing. I am looking at the homeland mint marks and I am guessing that it is the mint marks by themselves such as M=Madrid and P=Pamplona. guessing from both mints ??? maybe wait on someone that specializes in Spain coins opinion... hmmm maybe it could be the colonial mint marks ? guessing it is not a mint mark. the mint mark is the 6 pointed star= Madrid
cool. where did you find this info. ??? it was driving me crazy not knowing.(not really...just like researching coins is all).
