moneyer12 i just love UK coins.......

i like the £2 coin it is one of my favourites, along with the much rarer claim of rights coin from the same year. and $4 was really inexpensive over here they sell for around £5. and the crown is from the good old days before gibraltar started to issue far far too much nclt crap.

I bought the 2 Pound car boot sale for 2.50 GBP (I`m beside the border so I go to Derry for a decent sale there), I`d prefer to collect half crowns than crowns they`re more appealing to me and cheaper, though I`m considering buy a gunmoney crown they`re a decent coin :D.I don`t really like the modern crowns made in Britain especially the 1977 Jubilee one, they`re comemorative coins are good and worth holding onto though.

Nice, I love coins from brazil & peru. I dont really focus on them as my main priority though. But when I feel the urge to add one, I just get one that appeals to me.

That's a very cool coin. I can't find any for sale. What do they sell for when they can be found?

Winning bid of $5 at the local coin club the other night...,, Came in a clear bolt box from the hardware store. Didn't open it until I got home. For $5 I got the following: A Swiss 5 Francs that spends for about $4.75, a decent VF Penni dated 1904 from Finalnd, which, as it turns out, is a key date worth about $12 according to Krause. But the real kicker were all the silver coins, 6 of them altogether. Including an 1925 Australian Florin, which although worn, still has nearly ten bucks in silver in it. All told, almost an ounce of silver. But wait! I also got Oklahoma tax tokens and even a penny run over on train tracks by a locomotive! PLUS I also got, probably near a pound of copper, which at $3.50 a pound brings the grands total on the lot to nearly fifty bucks!! Now if I can just find someone to give me the $12 for the Finnish coin, how to get to Switzerland to spend the 5 Franc, and how to smelt the copper and silver I will be all set.

    newest foreign acquisitions

I just received these four Leprosy colony coins from a seller in Israel. They are well used coins from the Culion Leper colony islands in The Philippines. I was tempted to post the photos at this previous Leprosy colony coin thread http://www.cointalk.com/t203823

Here are my newest foreign acquisitions:

The first is a 1920 10 centavo which is made of Aluminum.

this isn't exactly foreign to me, since it's a Canadian coin and I'm Canadian, but the other thread was in the American coins section, so I guess I'll post it here, just to be safe. It's also not new either, it's from 2010 and I've gotten new coins since then. But, since I'm new here, I figured I would show it off anyways as it's a pretty cool coin.

It's a 99.99% 0.5g gold coin from the RCM. The design on the coin is the same as the circulation quarter, but smaller, much, much smaller. I've put the coin next to a regular, circulation quarter as a size comparison.

I find it interesting that the reverse is PRECISELY the same as the 25 cent coin including the 25 cent denomination. That is a pure gold 25 cent coin! Is the obverse of the gold piece the same as the regular 25 cent coin as well?

Well, actually, the picture I posted is of the reverse, but otherwise, yep. The coin design is exactly the same in every, any and all respects to the regular 25 cent coin, down to the dotted border and serrated edge on both sides of the coin. The only difference between this coin and a standard circulation 25 cent coin is that this one is 99.99% pure gold and much, much smaller. 0.5 g weight vs 4.4 g and a 11 mm diameter vs 23.88 mm for the standard coin. That's what makes it so amazing that they were able to keep the exact same level of detail in the engraving on such a drastically smaller coin.

All modern Canadian coins have the exact same obverse design, so I figured I didn't really need to post a picture of it. I can if you want me to, though.
