Haven't posted in awhile so here's one of my newest:

    1900 counter. brit. trade dollar.jpg
1900 British trade dollar contemporary counterfeit.
Appears to have been struck in bronze with crude hand carved dies. Artificial wear shows on the center of obverse. Missing features and very crude lines throughout. 24.02 grams.

New pickup for my Austro-Hungarian Corona/Korona date set, courtesy of Zohar.

Two types of coronae were struck in 1915, an Austrian and a Hungarian type. While the mintage for 1915 was fairly high it was still dwarfed by the mintage of 1914, however, likely due to the death of Franz Joseph and hoarding during the hyper inflation period, survival of 1915 coronae is very high compared to other dates in the series.

Found another interesting Australian mint set ( I now have 9 different years )
Checking 3 different editions of Krause and NGC I find that the 2 Cent ( mintage 103,000) and 50 Cent( mintage na) pieces, which are only available in the mint set are increasing in value. the 2 cent goes from a value of .30 in 1999 to $60 in 2013. The 50 Cent goes from $2.50 in 1999 to $50 in 2013. 2009 edition has the 2 cent st $30 and the 50 cents at $10. Checking completed eBay sales, I could only find 1 mint 2 cent that sold for $15 plus $27 shipping from Australia while the 50 Cents went for $22-$30 with similar shipping. The complete mint sets valued in the 2009 Krause catalog for $45 and in the 2013 catalog for $215!!!, sold for $30-$40. I paid $10.42 for my set. While I wish I could sell all of my collections at Krause retail, I still think I got a bargain. It appears that the 2009 edition is a lot closer to actual values than the more current 2013 copy. Makes you wonder where these prices come from.

I was super excited to find and win this. I guess the term for this would be "trench art" even though this was the airforce. It's a Aussie florin that someone took and carved for the 5th air force during World War 2. The 5th served in the South Pacific with many soldiers stationed in Australia during the war. Who knows where this coin has been. Sellers photos and a photo of a patch from the war.

oh that's cool! I didn't know much about the 5th air force, and looked up a bit. i ran across this picture i had seen before i always thought was amazing, it's para-bombs being dropped my an 5th air force plane for very low altitude on a Japanese air field.

i think those little black spots on the top are bullet casings falling away from the plane maybe? also firing machineguns?

I would say you're right with the bullet casings. That would be my guess as well. I actually have recreated a world war 2 uniform and it's a 5th air force one. Here's me on the 4th.

Man I love cherrypicking. Finally was able to get a 1919 Double Dot penny for my collection. It's a weak strike but they're there. Sellers photos.

The "black spots" may also be the release of Cluster/Napon Bombs?
