there are many for sale on Ebay now. under France ultime franc 2001. they are usually in the $100.00 range. the gold ones go for alot more since there are only 5,000 of them.
Word of warning. There is no way to encapsulate it. No Air-Tite will work. Note the carbon spots, and it now has signs of slight toning. I purchased it back in 2007 from Joel's coin for $45. 0.56 ASW, mintage 49,838. One of my "keep til I die" coins.
1999 Taiwan 50th Yr.of New Currency Proof silver coins. I have had the smaller coin, but have always wanted the proof large coin. this is for my topical/themed collection "coins with small coins on the coin as the design itself" collection. sellers pics... mintage on the large coin - 130,000
One of the thing about coins from San Marino is that they change their designs every year. I think I would go crazy trying to put together a type set from that country. The 1973 Mint set does follow a theme however. The 500 Lire is "Peace in the World". The 100 Lire is "Spreading of Learning". 50 Lire "Social Justice". 20 Lire "Human Solidarity". 10 Lire "Safeguarding past patrimony and protection of environment". 5 Lire Men are citizens of the world". 1 Lire "Against Hunger in the World". The 1-10 Lire are Aluminum. The 20 Lire is Aluminum-Bronze. The 50 and 100 Lire are Steel and the 500 Lire is 0.8350 Silver. The 500 Lire is the only coin showing any signs of tarnishing despite the fact that the mint packaging appears to be sealed. I found a small crack in the seam along side of the 500 Lire and thus the cause of the toning. An interesting set that I am glad to add to the collection.
Fortunately many US collectors, if they care about non-US coins at all, stop collecting them as soon as they say "euro", hehe. What you describe is what San Marino did between 1972 (when Italy allowed them to issue lira denominated coins again) and 2001. Until 1938 San Marino did not do that, and since 2002 the country has not done that. The idea to create a new theme set every year, much like what the Vatican did then, was interesting but expensive indeed ... Christian
Another from the Oceania area 1978 Solomon Islands Proof Set. Low Mintage 5,122. Mint plastic has a few marks but coins look great. Seemed to have picked up a couple specks of dust also. Plastic has static cling.
I have your coin on my want list for the star alone for my "coins with stars" collection. other coins come 1st.
I just won this coin at auction. It goes with my large silver proof coins i have been buying. Ghana, 1958 10 Shillings, mintage of 11,000. It is 28.28 grams of .925 silver, .8410oz. Current melt value is $12.56, and i got it for $12.62, plus shipping, it's the first coin i have got for that close to melt value in a long time. I do hope it looks better in hand when i get it.
