Here's a new pickup for the Hungarian type set I've been working on: Uncirculated Hungarian Types of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867-1922). 10 Krajczar 1870KB (Körmöcbánya) KM# 451 (1870-1889) 0.400 Silver 1.66g 18mm NGC MS65 This is one of the earlier coins of the Forint period (1867-1892) before Hungary adopted the gold standard. I had been looking for a nice example of one of these for a while. As these were workhorse coins, uncirculated examples are hard to come by, and MS65 is the highest grade reported. This coin is roughly the size of a dime. The obverse features the young bust of King Ferencz Jozsef I with his titles, and the Holy Crown of Saint Stephen is on the reverse. Interestingly, on earlier depictions of the crown in this period such as this one, the cross on the top of the crown slants the wrong direction. The legend on the reverse Valto Penz is short for Magyar Kiralyi Valto Penz or Royal Hungarian Monetary Authority. (seller pics)
More aussie silvers. Picked up for $1 below melt! haha I had a gift card. No more from feebay. Waiting for my local coin show in two weeks
New Proof set to the collection 1970 Bahamas. The $5,$2, and $1 combine for 2.6054 ASW. Makes up for the higher cost of the set. Mintage 22,827 Set came complete with the COA and the original vinly gloves provided to use when removing the coins from the plastic cover. Gloves unused and coins still encased in plastic. This you can see from the photo. Coils are pristine and tempting to remove since one edge already coming apart. Maybe later. It also came with a special medal made from silver that circled the moon on Apollo 14.
Finding these Caribbean Island set are becoming a challenge. They are beautiful set and prices seem to be high. Found this one for less than $20. Mintage 146,581. That is high, but this was the first year of Proof sets from the Virgin Isles, so it's a keeper.
Italy really had it going on around the turn of the 20th century when it comes to coin design. Here are four that I added to my collection recently. Three 5 centesimi coins and one 2 centesimi.
