I just opened the same year Japanese proof set that I had purchased for the same price. First time I purchased any Japanese coin set. Very nice indeed. I also like the beautiful leather case. It reminds me of the Canadian proof-like and proof sets of the 1970s and 1980s. All quality from our Japanese numismatic friends.
Picked up this proof set today. I really wanted a proof large penny. But as I was looking I found the whole set was only about $3 more than a penny by itself. So now I have all of them Not silver but still looks awesome!
The 1970 British proof set is always a beauty to look at. It is also the first proof set I had ever purchased at age 10.
See what I started You can get some very nice sets for little outlay. I have a 1980 Great Britain on the way. It doesn't have the crown or shilling however. You set is very Nice!
I have been wanting a 2 bit or 4 bit coin cut from an original piece of eight for a very long time. I passed one up in a lfea market several years ago and have really wanted one ever since (It wasnt a great one). I had a hard time finding one for sale online even though ive heard they arent that uncommon so I settled on a counterstamped one even though it was much more expensive then what just an ordinary clipped bit coin would cost. I think its pretty cool and has alot of history behind it. Ill still be looking for one not counterstamped but until I find one I will be able to admire this piece in hand.
Here is my newest, i did get it identified thanks to THCoins. It is a bull and horseman Jital of Muizz is Mu'izz al-din Muhammad Bin Sam, an Afghan warlord who conquered part of India. Years minted are supposedly 1173-1203 A.D.
Great Britain Sovereign 1888-M (Melbourne, Australia) Not in real good shape but must have had a history.
Mailman was nice to me today. Brought a lot. This is one I've always wanted. The price was right so I settled on a circulated coin. A few marks but I'm OK with that for the price. I love the helmet. 1901 German States-Prussia 5 Mark
