Funny, this was one I picked up last Sunday that I didn't post I wanted the 3 mark but only found the 2. Always liked the eagle and snake design like the Mexican coinage.
Some new old coppers from the junk bin today. $1 a piece. 1855-M France 10 Centimes 1855-W France 10 Centimes 1858 East India Company 1/4 Anna 1870 Spain 10 Centimos 1879 Great Britain Farthing 1912 Great Britain Half Penny
ahaha, no problemo ... => hey, congrats on a huge milestone!! (friendly participation and a willing to show-off your cool coins is what this site is all about!!) ... ummmm, well at least I hope that's what it's all about? cheers, my coin-friend!! => "Cheers, to 10,000 more!!"
Got this French 1/4 franc in a lot of coins that I bought for the 1837 us no stars dime is it any good? Or just silver 1837 date I can post a somewhat better pic tomorrow my light here sucks
Also got this 1858 canada 5 cents is pretty high grade au I'm guessing still got some luster left again not good pics
You got these in exchange for a US 1837 no stars dime? Although I collect foreign, the US no stars seated dimes, half dimes, and dollars are very beautiful & desirable designs. What grade was your 1837? I've never owned any of the no stars but have wanted one for 30 years. On the LP 1/4 franc, the mints of Strasbourg BB, Lyon D, & Bordeaux K are better. The other mints of this date are common.
Great additions MB. Same with me Gallienus, would like a NS dime but I find them too expensive or an ancient comes along and knock it off my list for another day, lol.
No I didn't trade a no stars dime for them I bought a lot at an auction for the no stars dime which was with a bunch of other coins including these 2 a bent 1853 arrows half dime a 1870 3 cent nickel and about a dozen low grade silver 3 cents the dime was what I wanted the rest was a bonus
You can buy a nice no stars in fine for 100-125. I have one I bought when I was 16 for $30 which has sentimental value now graded pcgs f-12 cac and the one (vf) I just got I'm really wanting one in ms with great toning but those cost big and are hard to find
Where would the mintmark be located? Under the wreath there's a star and to the right side there's a triangle this pic help?
I'm pretty sure it's the "A" on the lower right about 5 o'clock. Looks like at 7ish is an anchor which is the privy mark.
Yep, it's the A for Paris reverse. Mintage was 829,762 pcs, price in VF is 20 euros according to my 2007 issue of Le Franc, but I'd guess you have to sell it in France to get much interest. Overall among the no stars I'd really like an 1838-O which further adds to the high price. Right now I'm in Sao Paulo, Brazil, so it's difficult to find US coins**. I haven't bought a US coin in 15 years except last year I bought an old USA silver $ at an auction which I think slipped thru the cracks. Congrats on the '37 No Stars Dime in VF! Always a difficult and desireable type. An unc one would be wonderful. Actually at a coin show in Brazil, when I was registering I saw some people passing around pvc flips with USA $20 Liberties. They handed one to me and it was a type-II which I think may be a low end unc. Thus it's not impossible to find US stuff overseas.
Thanks for the help I'm strictly a US coin guy so these were something I knew nothing about. these coins were a bonus I think the Canadian 5 cents will help out the lot and I'll get a bit for the 3 cents too help take the edge off what I paid
