Just arrived in today's mail: 1923 Costa Rica un colon counter-stamped over 1902 50 centimos, 90% silver. This was one of those rare instances when a coin turns out to be much better than it looks in the seller's pics (below). Figured I couldn't go wrong for $10, but in hand this is a significantly nicer coin than it looks here, pushing VF territory IMHO.
Very cool! I actually just saw one of those at my LCS and was trying to figure out what it was, until we finally realized.
You can't tell from the scan but this is a silver proof of a Portugal 100 escudos commemorating the discovery of the Canary Islands. Somehow I got this for about $5.
I like those canadian coins. the oldest i have is a 1850's bank of upper canada token. here are 2 i got at auction last night.

I see you were talking about Jello's Canadian coins while posting your German colonials - that can be confusing to simple minds like me
Does anybody know what this coin is? I got it for free in a recent order of mine. No idea if it's a fake coin but I am sure its of minimal (negligible) value. It's tiny, smaller than a $1 US gold coin. I seriously doubt this is gold, since it was a freebie coin -- but I am clueless. I can't remember now who sent it to me since I get so many coins in the mail, so I can't ask the sender.
A few people answered my question on the coin above in another thread ... FYI http://www.apmex.com/product/26947/mexico-1865-b-mini-gold-coin-maximiliano-replica-11-mm
I just picked up this MTT at my local coin shop. Took me about 30 tries to get the photos right, but I'm happy with the results.
I just bought this for $13.00. i probably overpaid, but i like it. it is .625 silver and .2908 oz. silver. This one now makes 700 coins in my collection from 170 different countries.
