What does "sen" mean in Japanese? I have a Japanese-made Fender Telecaster electric guitar that is made of sen wood.
1 Hundredth of a yen. Sort of like a cent in 1 hundredth of a dollar. Sen wood is a type of Japanese Ash.
just got this ceylon 1941 10 cents today. sorry for the bad pictures, didnt have my good camera. one reference i looked at says .55 silver and ngc says .80 which is correct and does it happen a lot where different references say different things?
1911-1917 are .8000 1918b-1928 are .5500 1941 is .8000 Mintage 16,271,000 , your is worth about $1 in that condition
i was thinking it was actually 80. i got it from a 3 for $1 junk bin along with a couple from french afars and issas.
I got myself this Mexico 1947 5 pesos. It is a beautiful coin with some PL fields. Very difficult to photograph without damping the light reflection. I will for sure buy some more large Mexican silver.
Added these two Latin 5 centavos coins to my must have not SO nice coin section. KM# 157.2 BOLIVIA 5 Centavos 1893 PTS CB KM# 174a.1 COLOMBIA 5 Centavos 1883
Thanx man. I am just happy when these type coins arrive and are not harshly cleaned. Truly hard to find in reasonable shape on the local market and sometimes difficult to tell from some pictures. Last weekend, I rounded up some of those cleaned coins (odd 200 or so) unfortunately acquired and donated all to some local guys, which do not mind the state. We do not have a junk silver market at which I can sell them. It is very important that a collector enjoys his/her coins otherwise they are useless metal pieces taking up space.
That is true. There is several modern coins in my collection that have some problems and really I am happy to have them. I cant always afford the good stuff so problems are my only option. It holds true for some of my ancients also. Sometimes I think all coins deserve love, no matter the problem. Great new mexico copper sonlarson, one of my favorite designs.
Yes, very nice copper sonlarson, I have my eye on one as well. You know, I can live with problem coins with eye appeal. The sets I collect are difficult and plagued with problems like Union South African coins and these 19th century Latin pieces, but a cleaned coin with a dull surface is like sour wine.
