I got it for the silver value. It has a hole in it, but I think it's worth more than that. It's not quite as good as the one in the photo, but you can make out all the details I described quite well. I don't think it's worth too much because almost nobody knows about the short lived state of South Peru. It was a thinly veiled land grab by Bolivia, which has no ocean frontage. It only lasted about 3 years.
The pics you posted were from Heritage Auctions specimen sold 2011 for more than a 1000 US. "South Peru Sunface 4 Reales 1838 Arequipa, MS63 NGC"
I don't remember if I've shown this before.... What would you grade this Canada 1893 5c silver, and this Germany 1955D Mark?
I'm not great at grading, but my guess on the Canadian 5 cent piece is probably VF-20 (maybe a bit higher, EF? ... regardless, it is a beautiful coin => congrats!!) ... oh sorry, "both" coins are awesome!!
I got this Crown on my last trip to Vancouver. Very low mintage for circulation coin (1200). KM 40.1 South Africa 1950 5 Shillings PL,
I just got the same coin for $8! The 1957 Peso only contains about 10% silver, but I also got a 1904 Haitian 5 cent for a buck, so that made up for it.
1913 Prussia 2 Mark, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Napoleon's defeat by the Sixth Coalition. The reverse features the Prussian Eagle seizing a "French" snake (reminiscent of the Mexican coat of arms) while the obverse features a Prussian military leader being celebrated by the thankful people. DER KONIG RIEF UND ALLE ALLE KAMEN: "The King called and all came."
I collect German Empire coinage, but this is one of my favorites. The Eagle and snake is beautiful. This is exactly why I started on the Pesos's. Top: The king called and all came (which you stated) Bottom:With god and king and fatherland Here is mine with one of Pesos for design comparison.
