After the “same year transition coin” thread posted recently, I decided to upgrade my KM 179 copper set for all years to specimens with a slightly better eye appeal. Attached is the first year issue 1942 Peso. Nice coins for very cheap! All the years UNC for 30 US. KM 179 Chile 1942 Peso,
What can I say, this guy has about 4 tonne of coin, and he's somewhere between 80 and 200, don't get me wrong, I've been collecting with this guy for some three decades, I'm in my 50's and he still calls me kid. much more to come, I'm not even close to the silver yet...
They are nice, aren't they? "Mossies" A kind of sparrow I believe. Lots to say about old SA government, but they could make some decent coins.
I am slowly working my way around our "friendly neighbours" coinage reform 1870 to 1951. Difficult coins to collect since a lot of the specimens are dull and gray with little original coin surface. Here is a reasonably specimen of KM 179.1 Bolivia 1936 10 centavos,
There is a debate as to is this a coin or bullion, or even legal. To those, I say, who cares. I saw it, I wanted it, I bought it.
Numista lists two types of the coin, a proof and brilliant uncirculated. I suppose the latter could be considered as bullion.
I believe it to be bullion. I am planning on finding a 2004 at a good price(if I can) and making it a Xmas gift to my daughter. The thing about buying it as a gift softens the shock of the cost. I collect ducks, she collects elephants.
cool, I bought my son his first coin this year, 2005 Canadian flag 40th anniversary proof. His birth year and his new country.
This is not a new addition by any means but a coin that I have yet to share. It stands as an interesting example because for twenty or so more dolllars I could have probably received a lower end uncirculated piece but I purchased this one simply for my fondness of the color. An old world feel if you will.
