Panama Balboa Silver Coins Only the photo is new. I took the photo last night. These coins came from an old-time collector named Bob. I've had them a half dozen years & finally took a photo to share at CT. Most are 90% silver dated 1966. There are some older examples in the lot but most are 1966 vintage. Of course, the highest grade pieces were cherrypicked for the World coin collection. What remains is rainy-day silver as depicted.
1870 Spain 2 Pesetas ~27.15mm; 9.8gm (.2gm light!); reeded edge. Pretty worn, as most of mine are. Anybody got a clue about the star punched next the date? I DO notice the beautiful AU & better coins in pics others display. Sigh. I just shows 'em as I gets 'em...I'll try to improve my game.
1883 Spain Alphonso XII Una Peseta ~23.0mm; 4.9gm (.1gm short); reeded edge. The thing that strikes me most about this is the prominence of Alfonso's left ear and jawline. Must have been somethin' when minted! Otherwise pretty ordinary, eh?
1878 Spain Alfonso XII Diez Centimos ~30.2mm; 10.0gm; smooth edge. Bad old rim ding on reverse at about 9 o'clock, which shows behind Alfonso's head. Not too badly worn, considering. That's all for Espana...for now, anyway.
1914 Deutsches Reich 1 Mark Too lazy to peel it outta the flip for specs tonight. The Magnificent Eagle...ain't she grand? Another XF, I'm thinkin'...?
And so do I...along with at least dozens of others that will drool on they keyboard while viewing that glittering hoard! Magnifique!
I found a 1948 Canadian penny last night, with the King on the obverse. Finding a 1948 penny in Canada must be unusual, finding one in Oklahoma is really strange.
I would assume you would never find a cent of that date there just simply because they would have been taken back in by the mint it must just be happily floating around the states ! I love treats like that in your change !
