World Coins: Your Newest Acquisition!

I wish I knew what the original Japanese grade for that coin was. I wonder if mine would go 63?

I got a couple of old dealer's stock books with the sidewise 2x2 vinyl pages. Best foreign coin was a 1969 Canadian Cent proof

 

I won this one tonight in an auction. I will post my own pics when I receive it in hand. Looks like a beauty! It is graded SP67 by PCGS and has beautiful cameo like devices and some nice peripheral toning on the reverse.

K, got pics of some of my Newest aquisitions that I mentioned in posts previous:

01: - Netherlands 1890 2.5 cents - High Grade, but edge damage - found in the '5 for a dollar bin'

02 and 03: - British India 1936 1/12 Anna - Nice quality, another from the '5 for a buck bin'

04 and 05: - Belgium 1944 2 Francs, these coins were struck on blanks supplied by the United States, the very same type of blanks that the US used for its 1943 'steel cent' , 'war cent' - another great coin found in the '5 for a buck bin'... I have found some good stuff in there, including at least a half oz of silver over the many years I have been going.... I found a Liberian 1960 25cents once.... 90% silver, same size as US quarter and even a fairly high grade russia 1913 10 kopek, and lots of dutch colonial silver

The Belgian one, and the Netherlands ones are my favorites...... that is all for now, just because those are the only ones I had time to take photos of.... there is much more heh....

 

My newest acquisition is a gift, from friends I like very much. Not worth a lot, as the commonest of it's type, but it has some advantages : it's my year of birth, preservation is quite good and toning is great. Hope you like it as much as I do

Nice picture, I was minted in 1960 too.

 

My newist coin is a 1929 1 Krona I got off ebay last week. when I got the coin in the mail and took my loop to it ,,it appeared to be uncirculated under the toning,,so I sent it to NGC for grading. The best part about it was that I only payed $5.50 for it plus the shipping and if it does come back as a UNC then its worth $225.00

 

No spots or stains, I would say MS63 should be easy. Good luck with it.

I really need to buy some more world coins...especially outside mexico, Australia and Aanada.

 

Trying to decide which was the bigger steal. Won both of these sets at auction from an estate sale last night. The 1970 Italian set was won for $7.70 including BP. The 2009 British set for $11.00 including BP. The Italian coins melt for $28. The British coins "spend" for the equivalent of $22.50 US.

 

That's an absolutely gorgeous British proof set. At my local coin shop, they're selling for the equivalent of $35-40. :thumb:

 

Checked the BRM website, the 2011 set costs about $60 plus P&H. Nice looking coins, my first chance to look close at the £2 coin with the even number of gears that "lock-up" the mechanism...lol. I think the most unusual thing about either set is the condition the Italian set is in. There isn't a trace or rust on the staples, almost unheard of. The set must have been stored properly all these years, usually the staples are all rusty and coins are covered in PVC damage, both of which are missing on this set.

 

Now that's a deal!

It was given to me by a friend in Norway.

That sower design is one of the most beautiful world coins, IMO. On par with the Walking Liberty Halves. Great coin! :thumb:
