Looks like some pretty nasty corrosion on the reverse to me. I'd throw that one back and find another 1960
But a few from many send to Chile from Germany by our friend Goldmark. Will post the others as I take the photos.
Thanks! I was pretty surprised to see it pop out of the roll, and even more surprised (and delighted) to see what it was. I was always under the impression that colonial coinage was more often than not made of base metals instead of silver. And don't worry, it's not lost on someone "in the dark;" it's interesting how much more standard the design is compared to continental French coins of the same era. No idea. I'm pretty sure it started life as an office desk at UC Berkeley before being rescued from the scrap heap in the 70's or 80's.
Thanks John, this is my first dabbling of the German States pieces, I have some of the popular early 20th century empire stuff that you typically see here. I had to reach down deep to get this bad boy, she's a beaut! I'm currently eye-balling an equally stunning Prussia example, but it's a lot more money.
These are the sellers pics, but it should be here any day! I usually don't like gimmicky coins, but Belarus coins are tastefully done. I think it is sweet!
