Holy Roman Empire/ Austria AV Dukat Klippe 1529 Vienna Mint Ferdinand I 1526-64 Struck in 1529 when the armies of Sulieman I were laying seige to Vienna.
Yes/ Klippe coins are nice/ but $$$$ The Salzburg 24 Dukaten from 1628 are breathtaking. Seems there are so many coins that one can never afford to own.....pity
Finally got to a point where the issue doesn't overlap the turn of the decade. Henry VIII first coinage 'Sovereign' penny with mm. Spur Rowel from Durham ecclesiastic mint under Bishop Thomas Wolsey, so 1523-6. These are decidedly rare as I only have 7 in the database, one chipped, one pierced, one pierced & chipped, one short of flan and one double struck, leaving this and the Stewartby coin as the two best. The latter probably wins as it has a full round flan, but this has slightly higher relief. Sticking with the same mint and bishop, a second coinage 'Sovereign' penny struck 1526-9 with mm.Crescent And a further example, this time with mm.Trefoil
Henry VIII groat (1526-44). This will be my entry for the next 3 decades, as my next dated coin is in the 1550s. I'll only post it once, though.
Spanish Netherlands/ Brabant AV Real d'or ND (1535-39) Antwerpen Mint Karl V 1515-59 Holy Roman Emperor

another belated entry.... Rhodes/ Knights Order of St. John Grandmaster Fabrice del Carretto 1513-21 AV Zecchino ND Rhodes Mint
@panzerman That dukat is sweet. Looks like you got into your DeLorean and picked it up from the celator.
Actually/ I was doing my weights this afternoon/ and pulled a lower back muscle/ pretty sore at the moment. Thats why I am posting stuff, catching up. If, I had a time machine....and a cloak of invisibility I would go back to Poland in 1621 and steal a freshly minted AV 100 Dukaten 1621/ Sigismund III/ Chocim Mint/ or 1683 Transylvania and snap up a mint state 1689 AV 100 Dukaten Michal Apafi Only to Putin's trillions better then being in lawncare services....
Henry VIII second coinage halfpenny from the Tower mint with mm. sunburst, which dates it to 1534. Quite rare with maybe a dozen known. A few more ecclesiastic issues which ceased in November 1534 A York halfpenny struck under Archbishop Edward Lee (1531-4) And a halfgroat from the same place A halfgroat of Canterbury, struck under Archbishop Thomas Cranmer (1533-4)
