Do we then break all of those down into separate categories based on denomination or metal type ?</p><p><br /></p><p>If we even did part of that, then you would have to scroll through maybe 50 pages, or more, on the main Index page just to find the sub-forum that you want. Then somebody would complain about that. Saying it is too hard to find the category they personally are interested in.</p><p><br /></p><p>Which brings us back to my first sentence.</p><p><br /></p><p>Things are set up as they are because that's how we want them set up - at the present time. In years past, there wasn't even a separate category/sub-forum for World & Ancient coins because there was no need for one. I can remember that if Coin Talk, the entire forum not just 1 section, got a total of 8 posts made - that was a busy day ! Now, today, we might have a 1,000 or more posts made in just 1 day.</p><p><br /></p><p>As the forum grew and we began getting more and more posts we added categories & sub-forums here and there. Sometimes we did it on our own, and sometimes we got requests to do it. But we never do it unless we feel, believe, that there is a real need for it. </p><p><br /></p><p>Coin Talk has over 40,000 members. Does anybody think we can make all of them happy or set up the forum in a way that pleases them ? Of course not, it's impossible. But we do try and listen, and if enough people make a similar request, then we sometimes grant that request. How many is enough ? What do you think ? Is 10 people out of 40,000 enough ? Is 100 enough ? Well I'll tell this much, never in the history of CT has there ever been 100 people request the same thing, never even anywhere close to that. I can't even remember 10 ever requesting the same thing and I've been here since the beginning.</p><p><br /></p><p>And you also have to think about this - we, the staff, still have to manage this place. And the more categories and sub-forums we create, the harder that gets. And it's not easy as it is now.</p><p><br /></p><p>It's a fine line to walk, but we walk it. Will it change ? Most definitely, change has never stopped and it won't now. But we won't make changes just for the sake of making changes. Changes cause problems, glitches, bugs - call 'em what ya will. And then it takes a few months to solve all those problems. Managing a forum like this, one this big and one this busy is no easy task. We do the best we can do.
