Similar to Steve66 I started on a quest to obtain every coin minted in 1966 from around the world (not counting gold). It was quite a chore, but there are some great ways of finding out which coins were produced.

Numista https://en.numista.com/catalogue/index.php?ct=coin was a great resource for me. There others out there if you do a search as well. I like Numista because it lets you know whether the coin was produced for circulation, proof sets, commemorative, etc. Krause is great too if you know which coin you are looking for. There is also Coin Quest, Coins Catalog, etc. For 1966 there were 442 coins produced (not counting gold again) from around the world and I am down to needing six (India Princely States) which I am having a hard time finding, but that is it. Most of the coins can be found on eBay for very reasonable prices. But...it is definitely an undertaking and some coins are hard to find (Iran, Soviet Union, Sudan) and can be a bit expensive. The year you look for will have a lot to do with it. It seems 1966 was a difficult year. But...that is the fun of collecting, isn't it? Good Luck!
