I have no clue. I went with Brazil just on the basis of population — 80 million more than Mexico.

Columbia - specifically centering & collecting all the gold issues. The millionaires or well to do of the country. As per Dan Sedwick. In terms of Mexico when Robert Gurney and myself were at Arizona for the second annual USMEX Conference to promote the book a top dealer from Mexico purchased around 20 Hard bound issues of the GNL CCC 8R book. In purchasing this group he laughed and said "Yes in ALL OF MEXICO maybe two dozen collectors would "be interested" to purchase this book - IN ALL OF MEXICO! He repeated himself and continue to laugh. Its been known for awhile the central core of MEX collectors are PRIMARILY in the SW USA in Texas, Arizona and southern California and even with the small firm "El Mundo de la Moneda" in Mexico City almost all the lots are EXPORTED to the U.S.. Stack's Bowers had a dedicated auction of Colombian material, much of it paper money, a few years ago that did spectacularly well. Which means there must be at least two bidders there with deep pockets(!)

I remember that sale well, I lost out on every coin that I had interest in.....
Sometimes you have more success in obscure auctions, I won this from an Australian one/ Downies.... colombia-republic-eight-escudos-1825jf-2774203-XL.jpg

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

It is well known that he buried billions and billions of dollars worth of gold bars. It's only reasonable to expect that coins would have been in that lot.

You wonder if there are still bags of Liberty's or Saints in these countries, which are so corrupt and run by either crooked pols or drug lords or military men on the take.

I go every year to the NYINC....always great to see inventory from major dealers across the pond and to be able to hold their coins in hand. Also several world coin auctions held during that week...so plenty to look at if your world coin buyer.

Its a 'must' show for world coin collectors in the US.

BTW, very nice 10 dirhams purchase you made at the
    Stephen Auction auction.

I know for a fact that Chinese coin collectors are buying first republic 8 reales again.

These 8 reales did circulate in China in large quantities. So why not collect them if your Chinese numismatst.

I would not be surprised if there are some more 1933 Double Eagles sitting in some SD box. Hopefully there are some still out there that where not melted down on FDRs dictate.
