    Good point about the after market crowd creating PSD and your coin is interesting as well but yours is relatively easy to tell there isn't any original surface inside the grooves like I'm asking about in the OP's images.

    My perception may be off but it looked like original frosted surfaces around those anomalies.

    Oh well, I enjoyed the exercise trying to keep my grey matter pliable.

    Well we were recently introduced to the "Creeper" and now we meet the "Slasher". Maybe next will be a "Driller" which puts holes through the coin....

    As Bill Fivaz likes to say "I wasn't there when someone did it (damage/alteration)
    so I can't tell you exactly how it was done" Yes, in some cases there is no clear
    determination as to what exactly caused it, but I can say unequivocally that the
    coin is damaged, and is not an error coin of any kind or type.
