Kind of a mystery lot. Only spent ~$10 on it, so I figure if I don't end up receiving anything I really want, and it's not worth the price, not much harm done. After all, I typically throw down at least that much on a single hand of Blackjack lol. I guess you could say I'm a gambler (and I like it that way >_> <_< >_>). Anyway, it's currently en route, and schedules for delivery Monday. I'm super excited ^_^ I'll post the results when I get the package. But I couldn't wait any longer to share my excitement lol.

Well I wouldn't think I would, not at the price I payed for it. To be honest I'll a lot more interested to see what the other 4 coins might be. To be honest I'm really hoping for an Indian Head or a Red Lincolin. I've been wanting those for ages and haven't managed to get any yet. Stupid small town. Not many coin shops around here. Good ones anyway.

    I gotta admit I'm a gambler too.

I'd almost rather throw down some money on a risk and be surprised (or not lol) at what I get, rather than know exactly what I'm getting.

    I like the suspense...the rush...do I need help?? hahaha

I wouldn't expect anything ultra rare or valuable from a lot like that. For a first time purchase it will be neat to get some new coins for a starting collection but if your going to continue buying coins, this will likely be a very expensive way to aqcuire them.

Just bought one of those lots now myself. Couldn't resist the gamble haha. I always like to grab something like this once a while just for the fun of it. I like surprises.

It will be interesting to see what you all receive. While I like to gamble I like to know I at least stand a shot of winning. This seems more like throwing away money - especially when it says private auction. All of his auctions seems to be about twice what you should pay and private listings. All the signs of "Stay away". Good Luck!

ha, yeah, you just probably purchased one mid grade rosy dime for 12 bucks.. I have rolls of them I'll sell you for that price, or even at a 49% discount ; )
Let us know what you get.. should be a good learning experience for ya.

Cool! I hope you get something you've been looking for! Ebay has a lot of neat stuff and there are deals to be had if you look around enough. Good luck!

I've seen this seller's auctions before. Here's the bit that stuck in my memory:

Well, gee, Mr./Mrs. Seller, is the fixed Buy It Now price you've set "enough", or not?

I know right? The seller seems reputable from the feedback, so I'm not terribly worried about being majorly ripped off. But I'm just really excited to find out what's in the package. And to actually win an auction. I've been outbid on hundreds it seems like.

It wasn't a buy it now item; it was auctioned. I understood what he meant. The higher the lot auctions for, the better the coins that will be sent. Makes sense I suppose.

And I'm well aware that I'm not going to end up with anything very rare or valuable. But I'm still building a basic collection right now, and I still need some of the more common pieces. I thought it was worth the gamble. It wasn't a high price tag to gamble with, so I thought why not. I'm still excited :p

Maybe. Degenerate gamblers are those hooked on the rush. Mostly though, people don't seek the thrill with money they can't afford. The true "gambler" at least those I know here in Las Vegas only make wagers on things they feel they can win. The return on Blackjack can be steady, but conservative rules make it hard to sustain a steady profit. I prefer the sports book, where 54% correct ATS shows a small return. Of course I must show a better margin than that and generally do. But it requires a bit of study and a lot of luck. Craps is a sure loser as well as slots and other casino games. The 1.4 vig on a crap table will kill you over time.

Take care and Good Luck !

Awesome! That's how I (re)started out, I would buy lots of wheats (with some bonus silver coins thrown in), foreign coins and other random lots. It was a lot of fun, though looking back I overpaid for a lot of it, but, it provided me with entertainment, experience and learning about the coins.

Well I only play single hand Blackjack, and don't play with money I can't afford to lose. I view gambling as entertainment. If I win, great, the cards did what statistics said they should according to my strategy. If not, oh well, maybe I'll do better next time. But now I'm getting off track lol.

 did you just call me a degenerate??? hahaha

Believe me I like a gamble, I like the rush, but I'm about as stingy as scrooge. Never spend money unnecessarily. I feel a hit to my soul when I let money leave my hands lol. But $10? I figure whatever money isn't returned in the value of the coins is returned in the enjoyment I get out of the suspense. No different to me than paying to see a movie or going to a ball game. Your paying for a good time. I'm paying for coins and a good time.
