Mostly GB, but I see a couple of British Virgin Isles in flips that might be interesting. New Guinea One Penny, Irish, etc. Guessing around 200+ coins. Good lot for examination on a wet day. I will add more info once they arrive.
Dark copper coin on far top right is this - Only 360k mintage British Virgin Isles Possible one being this Ringed Kingfisher
Thanks. I will take any I like for my world collection, and auction off the rest for a profit. Individually if anything is saleable, and the balance will go in bulk lots. These coins will move in many circles.
Still awaiting that first lot, so in the meantime I won another lot of world coinage 2.9 kilo............Had to pay up a bit - $58 of fun
I can spot one of these, although not sure of the year. Greece 100 Drachmas with the bust of Alexander the Great and the sixteen-pointed star, - symbol of Macedonia I'm excited already!
Pretty nice looking. I see at least two Japan 100 Yens in there. I hope there is no more legal tender for you.
In roll-hunting threads, there's always someone (sometimes me) who talks about how much you end up earning per hour of labor. Your posts show right up front why that's the wrong attitude: You're paying a very low rate for hours of entertainment, not earning a low rate for hours of work. You win!
I always re-cycle unwanted coinage back into the revolving world of bulk coins. There are lots of people always looking for bulk lots. Hours of fun, and maybe some money back at the end.
Lot No 1 has arrived. Weight checked 100 grams over so total 1.9kg. Coins counted 340 - so average about US 5c each. No time right now to go through them, but I didn't spot the New Guinea Penny. Maybe I just missed it in a quick count.
Only just a quick look and I have found the 1938 New Guinea One Penny - in very good condition. 1944 Ceylon 10c. 1951 George VI Sixpence - sharp. Plus 1953 and 1954 British One Pounds. Thistle and Leak
Here are the 2 x 1 Pound coins 1983/1984 Leek and Thistle - interesting that they cover the years the Queens effigy was changed. One probably needs an acetone bath to remove some gunk. I've put a few other coins in flips to protect them. Britain 2000 - 5 pence Aunc Britain 2000 - 2 pence Aunc Britain 2000 - 1 Penny Aunc Britain 2014 - 5 Pence UNC Britain 2013 - 10 Pence UNC
The British Pound Welsh Leek is 1985. The second in the series of four designs by silversmith, Leslie Durbin. Welsh leek encircled by the King George IV State Diadem. The leek was first associated as a Welsh symbol in 633AD when St David commanded his soldiers to wear a leek in their helmets to distinguish them against the Saxon enemy army in the battle of Heathfield. The leek has been the national emblem of Wales since the 16th century. Obverse Design: Elizabeth II third coin portrait by Raphael David Maklouf. Edge Inscription: PLEIDIOL WYF I'M GWLAD which translates to 'TRUE AM I TO MY COUNTRY'. Mint mark: Llantrisant mint mark Here's a minty fresh one for comparison Milled edge in Welsh
