I think the reason they are using the $10.00 Bill is because this is the only Person on our Bills that wasnt a President, Alan.
This subject has several borderline political and sexist comments. But if it continues, and someone just wants the attention, please think of not being able to post at all.. Any mention of a declared presidential candidate is very political and infractions are being given as it is considered a political comment. Go to Peter's political/religion commentary site www.partisanlines.com.
Being its a forum owned by someone its like being in their house. You can say whatever you want, but he can make you leave. 2nd Amendment doesn't exist here or in many forums.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I can only bear arms in the physical world. First Amendment applies everywhere. I can choose what to post/say just as a mod can choose whether or not to allow it. I can't be told to type something I don't want to. 1A all the way. Holding true to your belief in the face of consequence is absolutely an exercise in 1A.
I don't like the idea them changing the 10 dollar note, but they will I am sure. I am for the Allegorical Liberty on it, if anything.
I have two notes that feature a lady as the portrait subject, the 1886 and 1891 silver certificate aces featuring Martha Washington. The problem with this generation is that they have no historical sense and so any portrait that they might choose to honor will be tied with their politics. The problem with that is that it only increases the stupid partisanship that infects the minds of so many people. I would like to be pleasantly surprised by a choice of a woman that would not be tied to present day identity politics or the dreaded politically correct mind killing meme that has destroyed any meaningful discussions of politics. I would vote for a return of Martha Washington, a new interpretation of Miss Liberty, as long as she is not some anorexic gender confused mirror of the present zeitgeist. Molly Pitcher, Betsy Ross, Martha Washington, Amelia Earhardt, Mary Lincoln, Sacagewea, Etta James, Victoria Spivey, Bessie Smith, would be fine with me, since as one of the last Federalists they are taking away one of our partys notables, they should not replace them with any figure that could be identified as either donk or pachyderm.
Heard of a recent survey that had Eleanor Roosevelt at the top. What difference does it really make in the long term scheme of things. I even had a friend say he thought that only Presidents could be on our paper money. So I asked him about Hamilton and Franklin and Chase. What can I say?
I would really prefer that the woman chosen for such a high-profile (and overdue) honor have done something more important than marry the right politician. By any reasonable measure, there are a hundred American women more significant than any First Lady.
All the discussion about the pros and cons of portraying this person or that person only illustrates my opinion that we should not have actual people on our coins or currency. Politics can be too divisive. Do we have to be like other countries? I don't think so. An allagorical figure representing our values as a nation is far more appropriate, liberty, freedom, justice etc. Lady Liberty would be just fine with me.
Well you won't see one in circulation but Salmon P. Chase on $10 Compound Interest Notes and $10,000 FRN.
Of course not. Many other countries do not what the US does, and (if they depict people) have a wider variety of personalities on their notes, not just politicians ... Christian
Well, sgt23, I served 3+ years defending this country and the rights of her citizens; and that includes one's right to speak freely. However, there is such a thing as good manners and decorum and the rules of the forum are to be followed. You're here by invitation WITH rules and should you choose not to follow them I believe the host has the privilege of withdrawing the invitation. So, hey, speak your mind and your opinions within the parameters of the forum. How 'bout it? We're supposed to have FUN with this hobby and when it's no longer fun I'll give it up. Another note: remember the 1A does not give you permission to yell "FIRE" in a theater when there is no fire. Ooooops, apologies to you sgt23, seems my cut and paste left out my reference to your quoting "silentnviolent"; comments were meant for his comments and not yours. I decided to just ignore his but just couldn't after all. So I hope you didn't take offense, none was intended.
