Grandbabies?!?!? Hey man, your a coins collector...remember?! Where are your priorities? Only kidding! Only kidding! : )
Lol. Sorry guys. I haven't gone through all of them yet.Kinda wanted to do a full report. I have gone through about ten rolls though and have been pleasantly surprised. I know most of you just want to know about the silver, so to ease the pain a little there has been nothing older than '64 so far.
Ohh and I should add, at least 90% are uncirculated, which since I live near casinos, was the biggest surprise. I've not seen rolls like that in over 40 years.
So, what's the pitch, what do you ask for? I need a good pitch, not some sales crap that will never get me anything good! Who's got the best line?
I just smile alot and ask if they have any they can sell me. Doesn't work at all at some banks. Others works everytime. If they say no, I know most of the time it's bank policy. If I walk into a new place, I introduce myself, and tell them that I am a collector and was wondering if they have (whatever) that they can sell me. By all means be completely polite and thankful for whatever answer you get.
Most all are from the 70's. Casinos showed up here in the 80's so everything that would fit in the machines got hammered to hell. These coins have me thinking that they were hoarded by a teller from somewhere. Many are or have begun to tone. I saved several from each year to put in albums for the grandkids.
I get a box per week from my bank. We have accounts there and I'm always polite and get along well with the tellers. I went to two other banks and just walked to the teller and bought a box. The next time I went to one the guy got me a box, then asked for my account number. I told him I didn't have an account so he gave me the box "because he said he would and is a man of his word" but told me not to come back. haha
He can't do that -- I would comment to the manager about his attitude. After all, if you can't go back you have nothing to lose, and his attitude needs an adjustment
