Agreed. I also have the strong impression that NGC does a much better job than PCGS, esp. when it comes to world coins.

Its really interesting that for example in Portugal, NGC has I would say 99,9% of the market in TPG's.
On the other hand I also collect German Kaiserreich (1871-1918) silvers and for those I mostly see PCGS being the selected/preferred/valued TPG.

Now, with that being said, the concept of getting coins graded is just now starting to emerge and pick up some momentum in Portugal, a large percentage of the collectors still reject the concept and call them "coffins".

If we look at coin slabbing in Europe as being still in its infancy stage (in comparison to the US), I think that the "sticker" approach is still a long long way from getting adopted... if it will ever get there.

I'm not seeing it on their website. Do you have a link?

It's a pop up on their site. I tried it and never received the email with the voucher

CAC has seen a negligible amount of all of the 60 million + coins graded by NGC and PCGS. If you think that the absence of a CAC sticker means that CAC has reviewed and rejected a coin, then you are VERY VERY delusional.

The sticker is only as good as the grader behind it. Who are the coin graders at WINGS and why are they more qualified than those at PCGS or NGC?

I have a special Black Series sticker I can put on all of your graded coins with my personal guarantee... for small fee:)

You are completely delusional if you think CAC has reviewed a negligable amount of 5 and 5 figure plus coins. Even 4 figure coins they have seen a good chunk of and quite a few major dealers send basically everything to CAC first.

Further more a large percentage of the 60 million coins they have graded don't even fall into categories CAC would even review so I cannot figure out why you quoted a complete irrelevant number unless it was just your market ignorance shining through even more

You never qualified your statement with the 4 and 5 (and 6?) figure requirements in your post until now. I would agree with you on that small subset of coins, but not in general. As an example to my point, PCGS and NGC have graded millions of generic Morgans, I would guess CAC has seen a very very very small percentage of those. No CAC means nothing to those of us who collect the vast majority of slabbed coins -- i.e., those less than the $1k mark.

Yes a lot of the lower value coins the assumption does not apply not usually apply. It is true I didn't qualify it with a value but did say a lot which admittedly was vague for the sake of brevity. Morgans are a good example where most aren't worth sending in barring a massive price jump to the next grade up. There are areas under 1k where it holds more weight than others such as gold.

I was more using it as an example though where with CAC it is not uncommon when looking at a coin to wonder if it has been to CAC and if it has why didn't it sticker, where with WINGs at this point I don't believe there is any area where you would make the assumption they have seen and rejected something

I own two coins that happen to have WINGS stickers. I purchased both of the coins without regard to the sticker, and paid fair prices for them. I will say though, they are both very lovely coins, and properly graded high-end examples for the grades assigned (in my opinion). The 1828 Hannover coin was stickered before they started keeping track of the certification numbers -- sometime before 2010 when I purchased it. At that time, they only had gold stickers. The 2 Lire was likely stickered sometime in the past 2 years.

I was watching this video of the main guy from wings go through some coins with the stickers. The whole time watching it I thought it was pretty absurd. I kinda felt sick watching this guy explain why some got this trivial sticker and others didn't. It's obvious the few guys there are just trying to start something big and I am hopeful it won't catch on. I recognize CAC has caught on and has a reputation but that company just adds more to the hype and inflated prices of US coins, which is significant reason why I opt for world coins. I can see why graded coins are controversial still, especially world coins, but I appreciate that they help with transactions so the consumer doesn't have to hear a dealer lie and hype up a coin's grade. But stickers of any kind is just overkill

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I treat WINGS exactly the same way I treat CAC, PCGS, NGC, or any other slab, label or sticker on a coin: I completely ignore it, grade the coin for myself, and buy it if I like it.

    WINGS means nothing to me.

Just saw this interview with the Wings guy, as he reviews a box of coins submitted by a CoinWeek writer. It is interesting to hear Lance talk about his coins, and if you listen carefully, you can glean bits of information about what he is doing.

I'll be honest, this interview makes me even less interested in his services. I just don't get the point of paying him to tell me what I already know.

Yeah, I got the same feeling. I wouldn't even submit my coins for free there. Too trivial, gimmicky, etc
