Everyone who placed an order for gold prior to Friday morning (March 28th) is golden. This came from the US Mint Marketing Director who was at the show. Everyone after 9am on Friday, not so lucky.

If you ordered your silver and clad anytime since, you are all ok too.

I was told by the mint employees that I was standing in line with that the coins would not ship to mid-late april anyway. Gold wasn't going to start shipping until June. This was not set in stone, but a strong scenario.

I think I forgot to mention this in my update a few days ago....So I was standing in line with 2 US Mint employees. I asked them why they were standing in line to buy the coins when they could just buy them from the mint. They said that the US Mint typically has a strict 30 day window that mint employees are allowed to purchase the coins. It was obviously lifted for this particular coin, but nonetheless, they cannot buy them from the mint and they do not get discounts. They pay full price just like you and me. I know some of you will now ask well can't they just buy them from home on the computer if there is a 30 day window, and I really don't know the fine details cuz I didn't ask.

Here is another tidbit of info that was shared with me. While I was standing in line to buy the actual coins, I was also on my iphone placing my order with the mint. I was talking to them about this waiting room deal. They explained to me that the mint operators who take orders over the phone use the same computer ordering system as we do when we place our orders on the computer but they get first priority. The waiting room just keeps the traffic from getting so bad that it clogs up when the customer service people are trying to place phone orders. That seemed kinda crazy, but they explained that is how orders are placed when you call in.
