I’ll start off by saying, it sounded like this woman was talking out of her . I literally felt she was making things up, but it was concerning nonetheless.

I received an email update this morning for my first order on release day. I was concerned because one of the items I ordered was not on the updated email, so I called them. The woman confirmed that I still had orders for the golds and silvers. She said, the emails don’t mean much. (that’s comforting!) She went on to say that all gold coin orders, no matter what time the order was placed won’t ship until 7/2, even though I show a 5/30 for the proof and 6/19 for the unc. She said nothing you read on the website or emails is accurate. “The supervisors have been told the ship dates for all gold coins is 7/2.” I also said, I got my order in relatively early in the day at 1:20. She said, it didn’t matter, 7/2 ship for everybody on the golds.

THEN it gets worse. On Saturday, I decided to order some clads to make a couple of complete sets, and some additional silver proofs as a little potential investment. I didn’t expect too much with the silvers since there was already talk of them being sold out, and figured I’ll just get the clads. I receive the order confirmation and all of them are expected to ship 6/19. So, that would certainly suggest that I may not get them, and they might be sold out. In fact, the order doesn’t show up in my list of orders, but did show on my account page under “last order”, and said, sold out. So be it.

Here’s where things really go off the rails. While I was talking to the woman about the first order, I decided just to check the status of this second order placed on Saturday. I wanted to see if they were, in fact, sold out. She said, NO, your order is suspended as was not submitted. I said, why? She said, she can’t tell me that, but I would have to re-order the silvers and the clads. I asked, how is it that I have an email confirmation for the order, and you are saying I have no order. She said, we had system crashes and orders did not get submitted. I said, even with an email confirmation? She said, yes, the email confirmation doesn’t mean anything, you still have to check and make sure your order is in. To make it worse, this didn’t seem to be so unusual to her. She was saying, this happens when the system goes down like that. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. She said, you can just re-order them. I said, but it says sold out. She said, again, the website and emails don’t mean anything. There are plenty of silvers and clads still available, they are not sold out.

Then it gets a little more bizarre. She put me on hold, and checked why the order was suspended and didn’t get through. She got back on and said, I should be ok, that they are trying to recover these orders, and not to resubmit now. I decided to just let it go and see what happens, since I wasn’t as concerned about it in the first place.

She left me with few last pearls of wisdom. “When you order online, it’s not guaranteed we have the order, even if you got an email confirmation” and, “we probably won’t know the real status of people’s orders for another week”

I’m so dumbfounded by the incompetence, I can’t even get worked up about it……

Has anybody received any coins shipped from the Mint? It really does make you wonder if they gave preferential treatment to larger buyers, and didn’t fully appreciate what the demand would be. Btw, it took me 4 hours of intermittent calls to finally get through. They are still inundated with calls.[/QUOTE]
