Got to let the big guys have first crack at them, just like everything else in this country. Ridiculous, isn’t it!

Best of luck TC. What time did you get your order in?

  6. Thanks. My order was exactly 12:30pm. Something tells me the shopping bag is going to arrive first.

Mine was completed 20 minutes after yours.....

  8. You are safe. I also ordered silver HOF later in the day and more gold the next morning. I will likely get the silver but probably not the second gold order.

Everyone who placed an order for gold prior to Friday morning (March 28th) is golden. This came from the US Mint Marketing Director who was at the show. Everyone after 9am on Friday, not so lucky.

If you ordered your silver and clad anytime since, you are all ok too.

I was told by the mint employees that I was standing in line with that the coins would not ship to mid-late april anyway. Gold wasn't going to start shipping until June. This was not set in stone, but a strong scenario.

I think I forgot to mention this in my update a few days ago....So I was standing in line with 2 US Mint employees. I asked them why they were standing in line to buy the coins when they could just buy them from the mint. They said that the US Mint typically has a strict 30 day window that mint employees are allowed to purchase the coins. It was obviously lifted for this particular coin, but nonetheless, they cannot buy them from the mint and they do not get discounts. They pay full price just like you and me. I know some of you will now ask well can't they just buy them from home on the computer if there is a 30 day window, and I really don't know the fine details cuz I didn't ask.

Here is another tidbit of info that was shared with me. While I was standing in line to buy the actual coins, I was also on my iphone placing my order with the mint. I was talking to them about this waiting room deal. They explained to me that the mint operators who take orders over the phone use the same computer ordering system as we do when we place our orders on the computer but they get first priority. The waiting room just keeps the traffic from getting so bad that it clogs up when the customer service people are trying to place phone orders. That seemed kinda crazy, but they explained that is how orders are placed when you call in.

  10. Thanks Joe. My second gold order was 9:01 Friday. Oh well, I guess that one is a lost cause.

Joe, that would explain why I was getting kicked back from two minutes to 10 minutes to 15 minutes to one minute to 30 seconds........

My proof gold just jumped from 6/1 ship date to 4/16! The other dates have improved as well, but that was the most drastic change.

  13. False alarm. Only 2 shopping bags have shipped. First gold order placed early hit CC so should be on the way soon. Silver order placed later on first day now has cancel boxes again. Second gold order place on next day still on hold...probably not going to get that one.

Interesting... I placed a 2nd order with the mint just before noon on Friday - this was my only order for the gold coins.

Just received the following in email:

They have dates in early to mid-July depending on the product.

Wonder if this means I *will* get my gold coins????

    Almost right, I think.

Once they have charged you the $4.95 shipping for your "free bag" then you are allowed to go back in and cancel the order for your coins. I know that for a fact. Of course, at that point if you do cancel your order, you will have paid $4.95 for a ten cent bag that was foisted upon you and you did not want in the first place. These guys running the mint sure have some sleazy business practices.

My order is in-stock and reserved but its still on-hold and they haven't pinged my CC. My order number is somewhat early at 42919XXX. I called the Mint night before last and verified that everything good. They wanted to confirm my identity due to the purchase amount. The next day, my backorder status went away but so did my estimated ship date. Their system is obviously very buggy/inconsistent.

HOT DANG, my bag shipped today, no coins just a bag.

Maybe it's me but it seems like the time the Mint spent on shipping unwanted bags could have been better used for shipping our @#$%^&*# coins !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
