Most certainly, or they wouldn't be making them. True, the cent the past decade has cost more to make than it's worth, but when combined with the profits from other denominations, they are far into the black. Most components to anything anyone makes can be levied on the same percentages. 99% of the computer's cost you're staring at right now is in the CPU, while the rest is a loss in material refinery to market consumer. If it were sold at absolute cost, we'd be back to 1985 and $10,000 computers.

In short, yes, the mint is deffinately getting their money. It's a beurocracy and they all need hefty margins to survive.

I think they should keep it. We use it everytime we pay cash or get taxed. How many times does tax on something ever come out even? Also I think the sybolization of it alone is worth keeping it there. As for Obama, I will stay out of it for political reasons.

We have enough in circulation already. After 2009, ditch the coin. Let it go out in style, or do like the Sackie and regulated it to Mint Products.

We cant just get rid of it unless were ready to round costs of everything to the nearest 5 cents...and i doubt prices will be rounded down so things will get more expensive as a result. I personally dont wanna have to pay an extra 1-4 cents per gallon of gas or anything else for that matter, it would really add up over time.
That being said i also love to search cent rolls and i dont want the banks to stop carrying them. Cents are what got me into coin collecting in the first place.
