Good question. I am trying to get a full CAC-approved Type set. Submitting to CAC was never about the value to me. It was just so that I had triple stamp of approvals for any coins included in my Type set. Meaning, (1) approved by PCGS/NGC (2) approved by me (3) approved by CAC. The end goal of course being sure that my coins are Authentic, problem free, graded within a reasonable range of the assigned grade, and attactive to me in various ways such as toning, circ cameo, blast white, old holders, etc. In term of why a VG coin at all, well I have a sub-goal of having 1 coin of each of the numeric grades, from PO01 all the way to MS70. Also, in terms of why VG, I am aiming for only coins I can "afford", so for me that is around $350 per coin max. So for this particular Type, the "No Stars" half dime, I need to be in the heavily circulated grades in general. Certain coin Types, I can afford up to high MS, but for some series, I am down in the very low grades. All that being said, the real reason I summitted the above coin, was that I accidentally won it for a low price, and I was already doing I submission so I tossed it in so I could get back CAC grader note in regards to the "Green stuff" and parallel scratches/ adjustment marks. So the TLDR: I wanted to use this coin as a learning experience with CAC.
