Btw on another post I want to explain that I have been on the CAC forum before and noted someone deleted approximately 25% of the comments; so I assumed mine would be deleted also. I have tried to talk directly with graders; I did finally speak with JA several yrs back; finally chasing him down. I comment on my own experiences good or bad instead of commenting on others’ negative opinions I may not agree with.
No. Unstickered PCGS coins. The 100 or so I had stickered shall remain so; not to be submitted for new CACG slabs. I see I am not being clear enough in my explanations; something I need to work on.
Then what the hell is the point of blaming CAC OR CACG? It is the coins you chose to purchase. IT IS YOUR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE.
It is not a matter of being clear. It is a matter of your inexperience, and propensity for exaggeration and misplaced blame and irate keyboard pounding, and desire to blame CAC and/or CACG because you did not get what YOU wanted. I have serious doubts you have 100 CAC green or gold stickered coins. When you stated "...finally chasing him down..." and "...someone deleted 25% of comments...", and "....several yrs.back...", I know for certain you are simply....well.....not being factual. At all. I wish you success in improving your personal numismatic pursuits, by educating yourself, instead of name-dropping to attempt to solicit the sympathetic good graces of the audience.
Having never sent a coin (or anything else) in for grading, I have no skin in the game. Hopefully they succeed as competition is usually good for the marketplace.
How dare you bring reason, common sense and the collector's spirit to this thread! Wait, I mean, thank you! I would make a bad dealer - or have to seriously rethink my priorities anyway - but I have a lot of fun as a collector. I like buying ANACS and ICG slabbed coins because some folks are more worried about the NGC or PCGS slab than the coin.
My thought as well, but it seems like they are making a real go at this grading thing and I think it's only a matter of time they become #3 overall, and also are clearly in the (formerly big top 2), now Big 3. I am happy that JA changed his mind about winding down the stickering business, so I can buy my preferred PCGS coins and the occasional NGC Slab either already CAC'd or I can submit them myself. For me, I still prefer the sticker to the CACG slab. I will admit, I recently joined the CAC Registry now that they added Type Sets last week, and I am having alot of fun getting my collection all organized on their site.
To some extend you are correct of course, but for many people like myself, we prefer the sticker and also they are now going to continue to sticker for the time being, as many collectors and dealers were unpleased about winding down that side of the company. So I think the coins will continue to be submitted and already stickered coins wont just go into the woodchipper and come out the other side in CACG plastic.
Nice post, well reasoned. Now that I am participating in the CAC Registry, I am back reading all the CAC related threads from the past year or so. A bit of hindsight now, but clearly I think CACG wont simply be a fad.
I agree with you, back when you made the post, and even now. I think at this point that ship has sailed. They are 100% committed to grading, for better or worse. And as of Fall 2024, seems they are succeeding on all fronts. Did you end up sending in those Coins? How did you do? I recently send in a Stickering only submission, first time in many years. Around a 14 day turnaround, can't wait to get the coins back. I didnt even consider grading them at CAC, but I sure wish they would let me do in-slab photos for stickering only coins. I did ask them, and they can't do it, the photo related stuff is tied to grading, and that runs out of a different location (different state even).
I have bought some their coins but I don’t see them making some big increase in material out there. They would need crank out a lot to even pass ICG in material.
It isn't going to happen, look at the grading differences just between NGC and PCGS! Just an opinion from a 70+ year collector who worked many years in a BM coin shop, still collecting virtually daily! e.g.: Awaiting shipment, Order date: Sep 18, 2024, Order total:US $2,729.47, Order number: 18-12077-33952 View order details, 2012 $50 Eagle NGC MS70 Early Releases Gold Bullion coin 1 oz Beautiful Luster Est. delivery Mon, Sep 23 - Fri, Sep 27 Returns accepted through Oct 27. 2012 $50 Eagle NGC MS70 Early Releases Gold Bullion coin 1 oz Beautiful Luster US $2,725.00 Sold by: chbro-3573 user Tracking available, Order date:Sep 17, 2024, Order total:US $2,975.00, Order number:24-12082-83559 View order details, 2014-W $50 American Gold Eagle PCGS PR70 First Strike 1 Ounce Estimated delivery Friday Sep 20 Returns not accepted. 2014-W $50 American Gold Eagle PCGS PR70 First Strike 1 Ounce US $2,975.00 Sold by: lenkoran2 user ID
I think that they will. There are many collectors who think that CAC walks on water, and so far they have a reputation among dealers for being very strict. If they maintain their standards as "a deluxe grader," I'd say they will stay around. If they become "a grade-flation grader," perhaps not.
